Perception is the way we take in information from the world around us (Kroeger, Thuesen, & Rutledge, 2002). I think you can clearly see how being a sensor is beneficial to any member of the military. We rely on what we know, make decisions based on intelligence, and very rarely conduct any type of operation without having the facts to support it. This is typical of a sensor; act on data, experience, and facts, rather than going into the unknown (Kroeger, Thuesen, & Rutledge, 2002). One of the disadvantages of being a sensor in my job is that you may fail to see the possible alternative outcomes of a mission if you only focus on the real facts. Sometimes unexpected events happen. In these cases many people don't know what to do because they previously failed to look for other possibilities and what other random events might occur during the mission. Interesting personal applicationFeelingThinking versus feeling is the next part of the personality type. This letter is about how we make decisions. In the book Type Talk at Work, the authors explain that Thinkers tend to be more firm, fair and analytical, while Feelers are more involved, subjective and tend to be known for their thoughtful nature.
