Topic > Chanel and Natalia Goncharova - 1745

Living in a world without innovators and without history would create boredom. With boredom we wouldn't have the great designers and artists that we are lucky enough to have. Chanel being one of the greatest and most famous designers, created knitted jersey wearable in her everyday garments and Natalia Goncharova is famous for her originality of Rayonism, a way of painting and expressing one's spiritual beliefs through vibrant colors . These two women hold an exceptional place in history and create a more radical and modern lifestyle through their work. Chanel (pronounced Shanel) revolutionized high fashion at the age of 20. She was an innovative young designer with a strong and unique personality that showed in her designs. She replaced the limited corset design with comfortable dresses and longer, straighter dresses. The silhouette of Chanel's models was less tight and more comfortable. The very famous Chanel suit consisted of a knee-length skirt and a boxy jacket. Chanel introduced its cardigan jacket to the world in 1925. Its designs were incredibly popular among the elite and powerful. Chanel became a symbol of wealth and status for most of the twentieth century. In 1909, Chanel opened her shop in Paris selling hats. His hats were worn by famous actresses who helped build the Chanel name. In 1913 he began using jersey in his fashion. “His line of jersey clothing was a reaction to lifestyle changes related to the First World War” (wikipedia.com/Chanel). In 1914, World War I led to a change in design with women working in factories instead of men. They needed warm clothing that would withstand working conditions. Chanel's designs were inspired around the time women's sports were being introduced... middle of paper... the freedoms they wanted, they applied for French nationalization on April 14 (Bowlt, 169). On September 8, they were granted full French citizenship, which secured their lives, homes and futures. They remained in Paris for the duration of the war. Life during the Nazi occupation was tough, but not as tough as you might expect. There were surprisingly many exhibitions where both Goncharova and Larionov exhibited. Goncharova also received a commission for a series of plays performed in Paris from 1940 to 1942. Through difficult times, both artistic innovators have made history in today's world. Their art and fashion have inspired us and our current designers to invent new and exciting things. Through our current events and their past experiences and projects, we can create something untouchable that will inspire future artists to continue to invent a work of art.
