Topic > Searching for a movement from the known to the unknown - 585

The word search comes from the French word researcher which means to search. The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines research as “scholarly inquiry or examination or investigation or experimentation aimed at discovery and experimentation aimed at the discovery and interpretation of facts or the revision of accepted theories.” He further defines it as "a careful study with the aim of discovering and explaining newfound knowledge." Furthermore, some people see it as a movement from the known to the unknown. It is described as a continuous journey of discovery, where the main impetus is given by a person's curiosity to probe and reach a more complete understanding of unknown forms. In his publication "There is no hope for perfect research", Griffiths argues that it is not possible to have perfect research. I totally agree with his line of thinking due to various factors that have been observed over the years. The main goal of research is to discover the hidden truth that has not yet been discovered. By doing research, it is made clear that the work done is not perfect, so research takes place. First, several researches that had been done in the past and considered the gospel truth for many years were disapproved by new research that was conducted in the recent past. Research is a never-ending process (Griffiths, 1998, p97). It is a continuous process that evolves such that one person uses the findings to explain some concepts while another researcher uses the same findings to conclude a new concept. A good example was the case of Pluto. Since its discovery in 1930 by Tombaugh, Pluto was considered the smallest planet in the solar system. This was until August 2006, when International A...... half of the card ...... has been accepted for many years now. Recent research has shown stars older than 13.7 million years (NOAO, website). This totally contradicts the Big Bang theory that the Big Bang originated 13.7 million years ago. To conclude, it is indirect and obvious from the above results that no research in the world can be said to be perfect. It is clear that my opinion on this corresponds to Griffith's quote. However, some opinions and perceptions vary from person to person. Works Cited: Pluto discovered. History.com. A&E Television Networks, February 18, 1930. Web.
