Using song and poetry to express his feelings for Beatrice, he shows how he has changed from being too proud to commit to a woman to being a man who wants to marry Beatrice. Benedict sings: "The god of love, who sits above, and knows me, and knows me, how merciful I deserve" (5.2, 26-30). His song shows vulnerability by saying that he does not deserve to be loved by Beatrice, and his admission that he is unworthy of being loved by Beatrice shows that Benedick gives up his pride because of love. Then Benedict goes on to confess that he is trying to create verse but “cannot show it in rhyme” (5.2, 36). Poetry is a form of deep emotional self-expression, as Benedick attempts to speak in verse it shows his commitment to his personality change. Previously Benedick fought any suggestion of getting married but now, through poetry, he shows his transformation from his bachelor mindset. Through the use of two art forms, poetry and song, Benedick expresses his change
