Topic > The pros and cons of therapeutic cloning - 1154

This is because I do not believe that the human embryo is alive, an opinion also supported by the Church of Scotland, a group opposed to therapeutic cloning, as it is not sure when life begins ” regarding the embryo. Since the embryo is not alive, “killing” it for the benefit of a large number of people who would no longer suffer is morally acceptable. It would also avoid any suffering from something similar, once again justifying the use of embryos for therapeutic cloning; an opposing view to this would be that of the Roman Catholic Church which believes that the human embryo is a part of God, and therefore harming the embryo is harming God. They therefore completely ban the harvesting of STEM cells from embryos and ignore the positive consequences resulting from the use of STEM cells from embryos.
