Women coaching men is something that shouldn't be a problem but continues to be present in sports. There are many capable women coaching women's sports and they are very underrated. There are no female coaches in Division I basketball or any professional sport in which men participate. There have been many hypotheses as to why this is the case nowadays. I think capable women should be able to coach men's teams, but there may not be enough capable women for the argument to carry any weight. Plus, I think all the hurdles he would have to go through just to make sure everything works out for the best wouldn't be worth it. The responsibilities that come with being a head coach can be overwhelming for anyone. Coaches are expected to scout and recruit at the college and professional levels. They are also asked to be aware of what happens in the locker room and with players outside of times when the entire team is together. This, along with other things like watching movies, is time consuming. With women coaches, this time can be difficult to find when they have families of their own. Being away from family and/or relocating the entire family due to work has been a problem for women in any profession. There was an incident with Penn State and one of their football coaches. He was jailed because of some of his people in the locker room. With a female coach, the only time she would be allowed in the locker room is after the entire team has left. When dealing with these types of issues, it is difficult for any coach of a different gender to be aware of the locker room and the activities that take place. Legal issues in general are always present when it comes to a man coaching a women's team or vice versa. Mal... middle of paper... a challenge from women." (Auerbach 2013) In my opinion I think women should be able to coach men's sports. I believe they are more than capable and the negative aspects of women who train men are lower than those of men who train women. The problem is that requests from women who want to train men have not been pouring in over the last 40 years. Maybe we are wondering about it and wondering about something they don't have with really problems. We can't force a problem that no one else has a problem with right now. If there were more women candidates who want to coach men and not get the job, then there's a problem that needs to be solved. It's almost like we're asking if women can be firefighters or construction workers. Obviously they have all the potential to be just as good as any other person in their respective workplace.
