While attending community college, I went from fearing dropping out to having confidence in my ability to perform well and deepen my knowledge in every single class. What followed was that my self-confidence made me want to help others develop their own confidence and wisdom too. I eventually took on the role of mentor among my peers. Although this position was unofficial, I worked with other students on understanding difficult concepts, proofreading, brain storming project ideas, preparing for exams, etc. Not only has this helped me hone in school and challenged me to work harder, working with others has helped me understand the different learning strategies and personal principles of others that have guided them towards their dreams through education . Additionally, I assisted them in their learning while offering new perspectives that challenged them to understand their purpose and why education could help them move forward in life rather than college as just another thing they had to do.
