Perseus was a demigod because he is the son of Zeus, a god, and Danae, a human and half-god. He never knew his real father. People say that his father perhaps one of these gods, Ares, Apollo or Zeus. He is a humble man and a courageous warrior. His mother, Danae, is the daughter of King Acrisius of Argos. King Acrisius sent a messenger to the Oracle of Delphi. The messenger returned with a prophecy that his daughter would have a son and one day kill him. The king had the messenger beheaded because of the bad news. The king decided to build a brass tower without doors, with one window and a crack too small to fit the child's arm. He locked his daughter in the tower, guarded by sentries and ferocious dogs. He stayed away from the tower until someone told him that his daughter was dead. One night, the king saw a bright light coming from inside the tower. He called a soldier to accompany him to the tower. On the way to the tower, the light faded. When he arrived at the tower, he heard a child crying. He ordered his soldiers to use the sledgehammer to break the wall. He saw Danae nursing a baby. He named the child Perseus, a Greek name meaning Avenger. The king thought of killing his daughter and son. She realized that she was protected by the gods. He told his soldiers that his daughter and son would be placed in a wooden boat without sails, oars, food or water. He pushed the boat into the water and went away to die. Danae and Perseus were rescued by Dictys, a fisherman, and were taken to King Polydectes of the island of Sephiros. He was struck by her beauty, so he provided her with a house and servants. He rewarded Dictys with a month's worth of fishing for bringing Danae to him. Years later, Perseus grew to be a strong and br...... middle of paper ......rted. He went to the castle to find out that King Polydectes would force his mother to marry him. He realized that the king had forced him to leave on his quest so that he could marry his mother. He called the attention of King Polydectes. He was surprised that he was still alive. She told the king that she had brought her wedding present. He told his mother to close her eyes and showed Medusa's head to the entire throne room. Everything turned to stone. He told his mother that his nightmare was over and that he had returned home. Danae showed Perseus one of the guests who turned to stone. It was his father, King Acrisius. The prophecy has come true. He went to the temple of Athens and Hermes to thank them. He gave the cap of darkness to Hermes and the shield to Athens. He kept the sword and flying shoes. He threw Medusa's head into the ocean because it was dangerous to keep it.
