Many students decide to major in biochemistry when they attend graduate school. Being one of these students, I can't stop after deciding my major. I need to continue to reflect and keep an eye on the careers on offer. I discovered three careers that can be pursued with a biochemistry degree. The first career you can achieve with a biochemistry degree is to become a doctor to help the community. To be a doctor, a student must complete his or her Bachelor of Science degree (BS degree) and must complete medical school to earn a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree. The second career option is becoming a research technician. Research technicians do not require degrees higher than a Bachelor of Science (BS). However, students should not stick to the minimum but should do more than expected. The third career you can pursue is to become a professor. To be a professor you need three degrees: Bachelor of Science, Master of Science and Doctorate of Philosophy. A doctorate in philosophy does not mean that the professor can specialize only in philosophy. Philosophy was the term in England for any subject other than medicine, law, and theology. To thrive in various careers, there are many academic skills required. Most academic skills, such as critical and logical thinking, overlap with different careers. For a doctor, to be successful requires proficiency in mathematics and the study of the human body, so that the doctor can pinpoint where the patient has a problem. Doctors also need to have excellent writing skills because they must write down the patient's medicine and when to take the doses. A chemistry research technician should be proficient in mathematics and chemistry. They should also be skilled in writing so... middle of paper... fears and problems that I will face, there are also many positive aspects of this career. Research is essential to becoming a doctor. It can help you build a stronger resume and understand how new knowledge is created. This new knowledge can be critically analyzed with your daily practice. Faculty members like Dr. Garcia (Biochemistry) and Dr. Robert Nissen (Biology) can help my career choice. Dr. Garcia does heart-related research and Dr. Nissen is a pre-health consultant. Counseling and research can help me succeed in my career. Students majoring in biochemistry can have various careers involving different levels of education. Some career options include becoming a doctor, research technician, and professor. I decided to pursue a career in medicine. The difficulties I will have to face will be many but in the end the benefits will be great.
