The strengths and weaknesses of Skagit Valley College differ depending on which campus you attend. Particular strengths and drawbacks can range from: students can retake the Compass Test, high school students can take it for free, Skagit prepares students for four-year colleges; but my campus doesn't have many classes, first come/first served, and it's a small school that doesn't have many programs. My campus offers criminal justice courses, but not a criminal justice program. The lesson points you in the right direction but doesn't help you in real life situations. There may be possible solutions to these weaknesses. Students or civilians take a compass test to see where they are. Basically the Compass test is used to show students which lessons are best suited for them. If you're not so thrilled with the results, you can repeat the test as many times as you like between certain time periods. This helps people recognize what their weaknesses and strengths are. If you don't do very well on your first try, you have the option to study and gain knowledge, and get back to the ratio you struggled for or wanted to score higher on. Another strong point of Skagit Valley College is that they communicate with the High School. So if a high school student wants to attend or take classes in college, they can go free with the school paying for the tuition it agrees to cover. This gives students the opportunity to excel at the college level and witness what college is primarily like. At the same time, by attending or taking classes in college, high school students receive both college credit and high school credit. This helps students get college-level information, graduate high school… mid-paper… ass, you can ask a direct question without having to wait. The campus I attend should hire more teachers if they shift priorities. This would probably happen, but I don't really suggest it as a solution because I'm doing well where I am in criminal justice. Knowing the strengths and weaknesses of Skagit Valley College, I still continue to live my life doing absolutely nothing about any of these areas. Skagit Valley College is quite excellent for me, especially because I want to graduate early with some college experience. Weaknesses in college and criminal justice courses are not a big deal and do not cause any problems.
