Jordan Baker's character as seen by Nick, is someone who was fortunate enough to be part of the upper class and spends many nights attending lavish parties. She is a woman full of sexual desire and will do whatever it takes to get ahead. Nick can see through her and quickly realizes that she is someone who cannot be trusted. He discovers that Daisy's husband, Tom, is having an affair, and Jordan knows everything. He also seems excited to know. So much so that during a dinner attended by the Buchanans, Tom receives a phone call, forcing the two (Daisy and Tom) to abruptly leave the dining table. When Nick asks Jordan what is going on, she informs him, “Because – Tom has a woman in New York” (Fitzgerald 15). Jordan elaborates on the situation even more, almost taking pride in what she knows. This little piece of information not only tells Nick details about Daisy's life that he didn't know about, but it also lets him know about Jordan's willingness to gossip about his friend. She may be beautiful and desirable, but Nick also sees the kind of woman Jordan is, she has one glaring flaw that can't be overcome. Jordan is a liar. He tells Nick all about his involvement in a golf scandal. “The haughty, bored face [Jordan] turned to the world hid something… At his first major golf tournament… a hint that he had moved the ball
