The human race is no stranger to the use of military force. For numerous centuries, our ancestors have engaged in wars, resulting in the destruction of infrastructure, spilling of blood, and shedding of tears. However, despite the great drawbacks associated with the use of military force, I personally believe that history has shown that military force was necessary and justified to promote the well-being of others. The historical wars that will solidify my claims are the Revolutionary War, World War II, and the War on Terror. Under the occupation of the English in the American colonies, the colonists were subjected to constant oppression. Colonists who resented the king were persecuted without due process. The English implemented higher taxes on basic goods without the consent of the colonists. And the English king refused to recognize the principles of liberty and freedom of the colonists on which the colonies had been founded. As a result, the colonists took up arms against the English, resulting in the outbreak of the Revolutionary War. Using military force, the colonists freed themselves from the tyranny of the English king and returned the colonies to freedoms and liberties that they had previously been deprived of. All in all, the colonists were no longer slaves to the English. Unfortunately, the use of military force would take on a more brutal and dark personality, which was quite evident during World War II. With the rise of the Axis Powers came the outbreak of World War II and a powerful evil that threatened the well-being and tranquility of the people of Asia, Europe and North Africa. One after another, the countries fell into the hands of the Axis powers. With each country fallen, it became easier for the P-Axis... middle of paper... unnecessary deaths. Entire economies would be devastated. War can also cause severe psychological trauma to those involved in combat. However, protecting peace, security, tranquility and freedom in the world does not come at an easy price. The price is that regular civilians commit to dedicating their lives to using military force to protect those they serve. In conclusion, it is my personal opinion that history has shown that military force is justified when it promotes the well-being of others. The Revolutionary War allowed the American colonies to regain their rights and freedoms. World War II allowed the Allies to eradicate the despicable Axis Powers and put an end to their cruelty towards others. And the war on terrorism has provided civilians around the world with a greater sense of security. As they say "War does not come without great sacrifices. "
