The film industry has many artists who contribute different skills and talents to the making of a film. Although the success of a film is largely due to the director's intuition and vision for the film (Goodykoontz & Jacobs, 2011), the help of everyone involved is important to make a coherent and successful film. As with most stories, they all begin with writing (Goodykoontz & Jacobs, 2011), it is the director's job to put on film what the visionary (screenwriter) has on paper and make it work for the audience in telling a story. Through the use of artists such as the director, set designer and set designers as well as many others; a film can offer audiences an escape from reality. Allowing for a short time in a person's busy life to let you find a whole new world of relaxation and excitement through movies. The Fast and the Furious movie was a box office success in 2011 and grossed over $200 million (Gray 2011). 2011 was what the film industry calls a bad year for cinema, so the sequels in this case did not have a huge impact because of this (Gray 2011). However the films were a huge success among viewers. The director of this film Justin Lin directed each of the Fast and Furious film franchises. The exciting thing about this director is his extraordinary way of adding ever-changing tones and styles to each picture. In all the Fast Five films the main focus was speed and cars. Fast cars are largely not the focus in the movie Fast Five; however director Lin added a new goal for all the main characters: complete the heist and "stay alive". As director, Lin is responsible for making sure all the elements of the film come together as they should.... .. middle of paper ......The scene was set in Rio and takes the audience to a place that many have never visited, as well as getting the adrenaline flowing with all the music and action. This action movie is a success.
