Actor Arnold Schwarzenegger once said, "Strength does not come from victory. Your struggles develop your strength. When you go through hardship and decide not to give up, that is strength. " Arnold means that you shouldn't expect what you want in your life to be easily achievable. Everyone must learn how to deal with the challenges that life throws at them, and while everyone may struggle, those who stay true to their task and what they believe in will achieve their goals. In To Kill a Mockingbird, the main character Scout grows up in a town full of racists and as she progresses through her childhood, she struggles to learn and deal with the hardships happening around her. He struggles to understand and follow the injustices that affect his small town. In The Help, Southern belle Skeeter must challenge the stubborn, racist society she lives in to write the book she needs to jump-start her journalism career. In To Kill a Mockingbird and The Help, the main characters Scout and Skeeter struggle and try to challenge the injustices caused by racial prejudice by tackling the problem in their own ways. In To Kill a Mockingbird, Scout struggles to understand the racism in her life. . When little Walter Cunningham decides to drown his meal in syrup, Scout questions him about his actions, but doesn't realize the effect his words have on people. Scout says, "...It's not company, Cal's just a Cunningham --" while Calpurnia says, "Shut up! It doesn't matter who they are, anyone who sets foot in this house is your company." and don't get caught commenting on their ways as if you were so high and mighty! Your people may be better than the Cunninghams but it matters nothing how you disgrace them. --if...... center of the card ...... in the city when he tries to help the help and move his career forward. In The Help and To Kill a Mockingbird, the characters Skeeter and Scout challenge and struggle against the racial and prejudiced ways of their towns as they try to improve their lives. While Skeeter and Scout have many differences, they have some similarities in how they interact with the issues they are both given. The reader sees both stories from different points of view, one through a little girl trying to understand what is happening around her, and the other through a young woman trying to solve and overcome surrounding challenges. Both characters challenge and face the harsh ways of life and the cruel people who rule it, and once again struggle to deal with the problem themselves.
