FESTINGERS' theory of cognitive dissonance states that "the inconsistency between two cognitive elements represents whether they represent attitudes and behaviors that give rise to dissonance (Ajzen& Fishbein 1980, P22) dissonance can be understood as a lack of agreement between objects and individuals.
