Topic > SWOT Analysis of Organizational Culture - 770

Strengths (looking inside the organization): The organizational culture of my current job would be a family culture. It is a family-run shop that has been in business for 82 years, started by his grandfather (who is now deceased, but still influential) now run by his son and training his own children. This family culture is one where we strive to succeed while staying small. It's a culture where we take care of our customers like they're part of our family, and we (in theory) take care of our employees. This smaller structure allows a few sales people to make a living, rather than many employees fighting to make some. This also makes the interaction with the customer less offensive. Since there are only a few of us (eight) in sales, customers are not "hounded" and pushed. Leadership talks about “family” in every company conversation and meeting. The assets of the shops are very high. The stories of its beginnings are folkloric and legendary that tell of a family culture. Weaknesses (look inside the organization): While there are positive aspects of a family culture, there are also negative aspects. Although family is the rhetoric, sometimes it is not lived. It often feels like salespeople are a dime a dozen, easily replaceable if there's something we don't like or agree with. Along with the family atmosphere there is a real family. The foundation of the company is based on real family members and these family members care about each other. Even family members who are, as I tend to think of them as "a waste of space". There is no tolerance for our mistakes while we are the ones who earn the money for the shop, while those who take from the tills only a......half of paper......help from two days ago from the manager's sales ). RecommendationsMy recommendation would be to continue with the family culture while being less family focused. If only for the sake of raising morale, it is important to hold every employee to the same standards, even if they are actual family members. “What's good for the goose is good for the gander.” To make the experience better for employees and customers, the point of sale system should be updated so that things go more smoothly by being able to check inventory and enter the sale more easily without having to get up from the desk multiple times or wait awkwardly that the computer thinks. Also, as mentioned above, I would also recommend forming an alliance with other local family businesses to collaborate and try to convince the public to shop from them instead of the chains: shop locally.
