The use of simulation in the development of the oral skills of third-year students of the Fast-track programme, FELTE, ULIS-VNU1. The problem statement, context and rationale of the research Along with the huge demand for good communication skills in English, traditional teaching methods focusing heavily on grammar and vocabulary have been gradually replaced by the appearance of a new method called Communicative language teaching. This method aims to improve students' "communicative competence" which requires not only grammatical and lexical knowledge but also strategic, action and socio-cultural skills (Celce-Murcia et al, 1995). To meet the requirements of this new teaching method, simulation has been applied in language teaching lessons to improve students' conversation skills. Simulation has long been considered an innovative and creative teaching technique in language lessons. According to Tompkins (1998), simulation is “a valuable method for teaching L2” because it “encourages thinking and creativity”, “develops and practices new linguistic and behavioral skills” and “creates motivation and involvement” in students. In the conversation lessons of third year students of the ULIS Fast-track programme, the use of simulation has demonstrated that the benefits of this teaching method in developing students' oral skills are considerable. This has opened up a promising framework whereby making full use of simulation is highly recommended. In the situation of the Faculty of English Language Teacher Training, ULIS, is the fact that only third year Fast track students have an official speaking activity called Simulation. in their program of study, which is worth fifteen grades (15%) of the entire conversation course grade. With the entire central part of a sheet ......g for each simulation and carrying it out in class. As a result, it is possible for students to benefit from the use of simulation in terms of developing speaking skills.* Reference list:7. A, TH (eds.). (2011).
