Understanding humanity is essential because it forces us to think critically about the challenges the individual faces both as an individual and as a society. This allows you to integrate into a society that constantly improves itself. Without humanity, civilizations become corrupt. The humanity in Huckleberry Finn is the understanding that others are not subhuman creatures without feelings. However, true humanity is much broader than this definition. Humanity is able to ignore the natural instinct to conform to society's opinions and instead show compassion and mercy to see each other as human beings. It means stopping unjust behavior to help others become more equal. Humanity is a blend of kindness, caring and restoring dignity. Twain's Huckleberry Finn implies that Huck must leave “sivilized” society to find his humanity. Twain's view of humanity is the cruel one. He considers people to be irrational and unreasonable, which is why he wrote this novel in a satirical way to highlight the illogical sense of common standards in the society of his time. Twain's view of a white society is that they are senseless, greedy, and power-hungry: and he conveys his negative views through the actions and thoughts of his characters in Huck Finn. Even though Huck has “distancing himself” from society, he still holds the absurd views he held towards African Americans. Huck is essentially given the stereotype of what is seen in the culture as the best and smartest: the upper-middle class white boy who is educated (even with his attitude of not wanting to be civilized). Similarly, Tom Sawyer is also attributed to the stereotype of the white boy considered more educated and civilized, because he read books even if he didn't understand the f... middle of paper... deep south. (from the imperfect Greatness) However, it's not really a flaw, but rather another way to add satirical tone to the narrative. At the beginning the narrative seems to have as its only motive the liberation of Jim from slavery and the freedom of Huck from Pap. But we eventually find out that this wasn't the case as Jim was freed in the will and Pap was the dead man floating in the house. Furthermore, Mark Twain wrote this satirical story, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, to reveal that human nature has no morals. It is only when Huck leaves the “sivilized” society that he manages to discover the humanity not only in his traveling companion Jim, but in himself. The book may have small defects. But Twain was not a writer who strove to eliminate every little flaw and write a piece of absolute perfection, but rather to convey the bigger picture and his negative views of society..
