Social media has become an essential tool in society; Furthermore, it has a huge impact on communication and the learning process. Social media is defined as websites and applications used for social networking. “As of September 2013, 71% of online adults use Facebook, 18% use Twitter and 17% Instagram, 22% PInterest and another 22% LinkedIn. (Pew Research, 2013). Nowadays, most college students use Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Social media has a major impact on college students' grades, social interactions, and the teaching and learning process. For starters, there has been a lot of speculation on social media. and how it affects grades. According to Lomeli, "some students prefer Facebook rather than doing homework. There is a lot of time wasted because of social media." As Lomeli said, "some students spend six to eight hours a day on social media, such as Facebook, while completing homework. Working and using social media at the same time is a huge distraction."
