To introduce this assignment I would first like to identify the material I have chosen to research for my research role in this assignment. I chose to undertake a research study on Mild General Learning Disabilities (MGLD) to find out more information about exactly what it is, how it affects students, and what can be done to fully include these students in our classrooms. This role allowed me to take a deeper look at exactly what my assumptions related to this were and how I would change them given the evidence I had uncovered. By embracing this I learned about my assumptions and educational theory and how it changed over the course of the research. During this assignment I want to investigate my assumptions, classify them, and examine them to clarify where my thoughts about teaching come from. This will be critical if I am to gain a true understanding of the direction my teaching has taken. My goal is to do this through the use of critical reflection, something I will talk about later in this article. The goals of this assignment are to first reflect on our practice and the assumptions associated with it, and generate a deeper understanding of where these assumptions come from. from. We must then consider the role of teachers as professionals. Recognition as a professional is something the teaching profession strives to achieve; so we must consider the implications of such desires. So, in considering this information, I aim to outline what it will mean for me as a newly qualified teacher and what the consequences will be for my future practice.
