Albert Bandura was born on December 4, 1925 in the town of Mundare, located in Alberta, Canada, just outside of Edmonton (Boeree, 1998). He was both the only boy and the youngest of six in his family. His father was Polish and his mother Ukrainian, both of whom immigrated to Canada in their early years (Pajares 2004). Although his parents never received formal education, they considered education to be of great importance. Bandura's father taught himself to read 3 different languages and was a member of the school board of the local school district. Before Albert's birth, their family had gone through some hardships, like everyone else, due to the effects of the Great Depression. In his autobiography (2006) Bandura's family suffered the loss of their daughter to the flu. Also due to a drought that affected the family's farm, his father was forced to remove part of the roof of the house in order to feed the livestock. Despite these difficulties, after the birth of his son, thanks to the family's hard work, the father managed to expand the farm, buy a car and celebrate the time...
