Thesis project There are always similarities between photography and cinematography. Both have a similar technical basis, but the result is always different. My photographs explore the nebulous boundaries that exist between the two. By adding elements of each, my images become a combination of truth and fiction. Each image begins with the construction of a miniature diorama. Each set is carefully constructed to be photographed. As in cinema, all staging and lighting are taken into account and manipulated to serve the overall image. After the photograph is taken, all the miniature sets are dismantled and recycled for the construction of the next scene. Through this process, I am creating a space to just exist within the photograph. By leaving the images open, viewers may wonder how much truth the photograph actually contains. The overall look of a diorama is made believable and with the addition of people it adds realistic elements. Within photography, there is always a fixed belief of the truth that lies behind a photograph. My photographs come from childhood....
