Immigration to the United StatesThe immigration patterns of the United States have fluctuated over the years, some years having little while others see increasing numbers of immigrants, both legal who are illegal, looking for opportunities to improve their lives. The amount of illegal immigration is a problem as many take advantage of social services provided by the government without contributing to the country as they are not citizens and many people see these illegal immigrants as a threat to their jobs. Illegal immigrants negatively impact the United States in various ways, but if those illegal immigrants were to have safe passage to citizenship, the immigrants would contribute greatly to the country. The fact that much of the immigration system is broken affects many aspects of the United States, the economy being the most affected; however, steps are being taken to improve the immigration system and help immigrants obtain legal citizenship in the United States. One of the main aspects of the United States that is affected by immigration is the economy, there are various opinions on what immigration is doing to the country. economical, some positive and some negative. If the amount of immigration were to be maintained and a large amount of unskilled labor were hired, the supply of cheap labor would cause the wages of Native Americans to decrease, but the prices of consumer goods would also decrease, meaning that the economy would improve. With more poor immigrants arriving, much of the government taxes are imposed on people of the upper classes, again a major effect on Native Americans that may cause some anger, but overall it is estimated that these problems caused by immigration on the economy are short-term. problems, in the long run the immi...... middle of paper ......processes are not streamlined enough to encourage illegal immigrants to become citizens. With pro-immigration groups opting for immigration reform, the United States could experience economic growth and prosperity among Native Americans and newly naturalized citizens.
