All types of art have existed for many years, starting from 10,000 BC The meaning of art is a way for someone to express feelings, thoughts and sometimes used for entertainment. The oldest art forms were commonly recognized in the form of drawings, paintings, and sculptures. Drawings have been discovered in Ice Age caves and inscriptions and paintings of legends in the pyramids of Egypt. Other art forms arrived with the discovery of music and theater. Only later did another art form originate from Europe. This art form was known as magic lanterns, which were a series of different images placed in front of a light or flame. The light would cast a shadow of the image for entertainment purposes. After the invention of the camera, a man named Eadweard put together an experiment to place 12 cameras around a racecourse. The cameras were placed in different places, close together, and took photos while the horses ran. The result was twelve different photos in sequence and by quickly moving the photos it looked like the horse was running. This was called motion photography. Like the magic lantern, motion photography had the same concept when images were projected onto a large screen for an audience, thus giving us our first films. Films became an art form because, like a play, films were a way to express passion, love, humor, and mystery for entertainment. The art form I chose to write about is a movie, called Schindler's List. Schindler's List is a 1993 American epic historical drama film directed and co-produced by Steven Spielberg and written by Steven Zaillian. It is based on the novel Schindler's Ark by Thomas Keneally....... middle of paper ......and that even in a time of such cruelty, good will prevail. The Jewish prisoners depended on Oskar Schindler and his kindness for their lives, but later in the film they became loyal to him. The Jewish prisoners show their gratitude by making a ring for Oskar Schindler out of gold fillings from their teeth. This act of Jewish prisoners pulling gold fillings from their teeth demonstrates that kindness is usually rewarded. This film also influenced my view of the history of our world. The film introduces the history of the Holocaust and gives us some information about how some parts of the Holocaust worked and how the Jewish people were treated. The importance of history is very real and should be of great importance to all of us. I firmly believe that we should study and learn our history, then the chances of history repeating itself will be less.
