This leads to a lot of disruption in America. The 18th Amendment made many people angry at the government. The 18th Amendment banned alcohol, but was this prohibition really good for this country? This research paper will tell about the positive and negative aspects of prohibition and the overall effect on the country. There are many arguments for both oppositions. This article will focus more on the negative aspects of the topic. Prohibition went into effect on January 16, 1920. There were very few people who supported Prohibition. US leaders and temperance movement groups supported him. Many people opposed Prohibition, including the average citizen, teenagers, and the Mafia. Prohibition created so many problems in America even as it was trying to correct one. Prohibition was not widely supported by many people. Prohibition led to many changes in our country. Some were bad and some were good. The effects on America were mostly negative. The positive effects included that no one could drink and one could try to contain the effects of drunkenness. Prohibition also kept many people out of trouble with the law. Puritans believed that alcohol had a terrible effect on people and that is why they supported prohibition. Prohibition was the beginning of a “dry” era and led many people to stay sober and not drink alcohol at all. This had a good effect on those people and their lives. They were more focused on their lives and tried to stay healthy by not drinking. This wasn't true for... half the paper... and alcohol. The leader of the crime at that time was Al Capone. Capone was the ringleader of the Mafia. He would do anything to get his money from his clandestine alcohol trafficking ring. Al Capone is a well-known mafia leader. Al Capone He was the main traffic leader during Prohibition. Al Capone was involved with gangs for much of his life. This turned him into one of the greatest gang leaders. Prohibition made a plethora of people furious at the government for passing the Eighteenth Amendment. Not only were the people crazy, but the beer companies were crazy too. During this time of prohibition, citizens did not want to follow the laws of the government. They wanted to drink alcohol. The citizens rebelled and began to purchase it illegally. However, the Eighteenth Amendment did not directly state that it was illegal to consume or possess alcohol privately .
