The Great Gatsby is a film released in 2013, directed by Baz Luhrmann who won: Best Film, Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay for The Great Gatsby (AACTA Awards 2013), with cinematography by Simon Duggan (I, Robot and Underworld: Evolution, being two of his previous important works). The main roles include Tobey Maguire as Nick Carraway, the shy spectator of the events of the film and Leonardo DiCaprio, who plays the role of Jay Gatsby, a rich and luxurious millionaire who has been in love with the same woman for even five years. of no contact; this is Daisy Buchanan, played by Carey Mulligan, an upper-middle-class woman with beautiful looks and charming charisma. The scene that will be analyzed falls in the middle of the film and portrays Jay and Daisy's first meeting after five years without contact. The components of the film will be examined: staging, cinematography, soundtrack and editing to help understand the meaning of the scene and the particular components within it as well as the emotional effect they have. Center shots of Daisy and Gatsby are shown, however Daisy is much closer to the camera than Gatsby in her shots. This is to show that Daisy is the center of this scene and that all of Gatsby's attention falls on her. This scene is interrupted by the sound of a kettle and then a fade transition occurs to show the cottage from the outside while a dreamlike, non-diegetic sound is played. This indicates that a change in time has occurred, ending the scene
