The victory is not in the amount of money or resources your organization wins, but in the impact you have on those who seek services from your organization and leave with a satisfaction or purpose. There is no single or right way to lead. There is no theoretical practice that a leader must follow to see success. Leadership is earned by those who go the extra mile and go beyond what is asked of them without being prompted. Strive to improve your skills to become a stronger leader in whatever aspect or position you find yourself in a given type of library. “Be a visionary, set a goal, look for new ideas” (Misakian, p. 16). A leader seeks out the strengths of his employees without blocking their growth and maintaining confidence in his own abilities. They allow those who follow them to think outside the box and at the same time redesign a process when important decisions need to be implemented. As a leader, you should look for replacements for your position. In this, you should look for the next great leader; a protected person. Most great leaders are mentors and don't take for granted that they have people who value their judgment and vision. No leader wants to be remembered as someone who lacks skills, knowledge, the ability to lead and the ability to improve
