Jin 1“Many structures of the Roman Empire were created through the influence of Roman mythology. Some structures are still affected today. Imagination was involved in the creative writing process. Their myths extended farther and lasted longer than the Roman Empire. Many of the myths influence literature, art and music. Roman myths represented heroism, and because of this, much of Rome's history was reflected in Roman politics, religion, and society. Roman mythology is important because it shaped the origins and religious system of ancient Rome, while building their civilization on the visual arts, literature, and psychology. The culture of Rome had strong support for its own culture through mythology. The visual arts were supported through imagination. According to the ancient Romans, many people listened to myths and created the image of gods, goddesses and heroes. In ancient Rome, sculptures, murals and paintings were created in this image. There were sculptures representing figures such as Pegasus and Perseus, which were derived from myths (Schomp 33). The visual arts were not the solitary part of Roman culture that relied on myths. The literature was also based on most of the sky gods. Since mythology was basically their literature, the books written in ancient Rome were mythology. Many famous themes were engraved with the words of their literature. These themes have shaped the daily life of a Roman for thousands of years. The daily life of a Roman was also regulated through the beliefs of Rome. Religion has played a really significant role in the daily lives of... middle of paper... similar myths aside. Roman mythology had an explanation of how Rome came to be even if it is a myth. This shows the importance of Roman mythology. Roman mythology is important because it creates the history of ancient Rome. Without Roman mythology, many beliefs and achievements of the Roman Empire would never have been realized or even found. Today Roman mythology is known throughout the world. Even though it underwent Greek influence, it allowed other parts of the world to learn about Roman mythology. In many other parts of the world, myths are called differently and have different aspects. They are not as similar as the Greek and Roman myths are. In America we call them folk tales. These folk tales consist of life lessons. Mythology is different in each country. However, it was a significant process that has been going on for centuries.”
