The extent to which a good or service is perceived by the customer as corresponding to their needs or desires, measured by the customer's willingness to pay for it. It usually depends more on the customer's perception of the value of the product than on its intrinsic value. Defining Value in Marketing (WebFinance, Inc., 2014) The only constant in computers today is that they change frequently and exponentially. While the form factor of a computer, whether desktop or laptop, has not changed significantly, the technology and capability of today's computer compared to a computer from last year can be very different. In my search for a laptop to use for my academic work at Ashworth College, I had the opportunity to explore various laptops in terms of price, capabilities, availability, and various other elements. The final two candidates that cut my budget by $400.00 or less and a 16-inch screen were the Dell Inspiron I15RV1383BLK priced at $396.99 (Best Buy, 2014) and $399.99 with the tag HP 2000-2d80nr (Best Buy, 2014) . Although these two laptops had many similarities in price; form factor and more from an initial look, the Dell Inspiron presented itself as the better offering when compared to the HP 2000 in terms of value determined by differences in hardware, software, reliability, user satisfaction and warranty. Hardware-wise, both laptops were nearly identical in screen size and overall appearance. However, as in a good book, what counts is what's inside. The first thing to compare in the hardware category was the quality and speed of the processor.
