Will Ferrell and the World of Comedy He stands at an imposing 6'3, has wild curly hair, gorgeous blue eyes and is one of the most respected comedic actors in the world. Who is? It's Will Ferrell! The star of many hit comedies, including Old School, Anchorman, Elf, and Talladega Nights, Will has been making people laugh since his 7-year run on Saturday Night Live. Unfortunately, when he first started on the show, people considered him one of the most annoying cast members in the show's history. His career almost seemed like a joke! However, Will managed to overcome his negative self-image in the world of comedy by becoming surprisingly successful on SNL, making box office hits, and using "funnies" to tune young people into political issues. Ferrell had a rocky start on SNL. However, he willingly won the hearts of viewers by doing more impressions and skits ("Biography"). Some of his most famous impersonations include James Lipton, Harry Caray, Alex Trebek, Neil Diamond and perhaps most famously George Bush. His most famous sketches include "The Spartan Cheerleader", "Celebrity Jeopardy" and "More Cowbell". Things were starting to change for Ferrell. Since he was doing great on the show, he believed he was ready to take on one of his biggest challenges yet: a full-time film career. The show's producers didn't want to lose Ferrell yet, so to keep him, they increased his salary to over $350,000 per live show.
