What is cheating? Betrayal can be defined in many ways in any field within it. The best definition for this word is to act dishonestly or unfairly to gain an advantage. We all know that cheating is wrong in any way. The most talked about sport is baseball, with all these players using drugs to gain an advantage. Anyone who cheats should be punished for their actions in sport, but it has always happened and will happen, no matter what, but it is up to the commissioner of professional sport and the referees to stop this. When it comes to sports, cheating is the worst thing you can do because it diminishes the purity of the competition. What is the cause and effect of cheating in baseball when today's baseball players take steroids or other PEDS (Performance Enhance Drugs) or use another method to cheat? By using steroids or PEDS (Performance Enhance Drugs), the cause could be that players can gain a competitive advantage in their sport and can cause guesswork. The effect of the player's actions would cause the player to be suspended with or without pay. MLB (Major League Baseball) players are the prime suspects in the use of these PEDS every year and every year the situation gets worse for the player. Baseball players who reach the professional level should not use PEDS to set an example to younger athletes and future generations that if they can reach the pros without using PEDS then they will no longer need to use it when they get there. Children who grew up in America grew up with baseball and considered a sports figure to be one of their heroes. Steroids and other PEDS have tarnished America's favorite game in the past. These drugs caused doubt and suspicion about the validity of the game between the Chicago Cubs and Tampa Bay Devil Rays on June 4, 2003, after umpires found cork in his shattered bat. Sosa says it was an honest mistake and says, “I use that bat for batting practice; It's something I take the blame for. It's a mistake, I know, I'm sorry, I just apologize to everyone who is embarrassed. Sosa was 17th on the career home run list, and people began to wonder if any of his 505 home runs were a fraud, too. The reason Sosa used the corked bat was because he was having a bad year in his 2003 season as a Chicago Cubs, not hitting many home runs and being injured. The result of Sammy Sosa's cheating in this game resulted in an 8 game suspension for the Cubs star. Cheating is a big problem in every situation. But when it comes to sports, it's one of the worst things to do because it detracts from the purity of the game.
