Shadowing a Certified Athletic Trainer For this project, the certified athletic trainer I shadowed for nearly eight hours in a single day is Candace O'Bryan, currently a strength coach at Archbishop Hoban High School in Akron. Candace worked at Hoban and is now in her third year of high school. She works alone as a coach there, but works alongside a team doctor who is present at every game, and the other is a neurosurgeon but is just a parent who helps. Candace works at a clinic in downtown Akron near the Spaghetti Warehouse. She works at the clinic only in the off-season, which for her is summer since school is closed. The reason is that during the school days, normally when you work in the clinic, she teaches Hoban. Candace is also a high school health teacher for some classes in the morning. Overall, he works more than fifty hours a week, including out-of-state tournaments. Since he has a contract to work in Hoban through the clinic, he only has to comply with a few things. For example, it covers every home sports game. But in football and baseball he travels with them to the away games they have. It's just the way the contract was drawn up when she was hired. To get to where she is so far, Candace attended Kent State University where she underwent athletic training. Just recently, after finishing her specialization and obtaining her certification, she finished a master's degree and earned a second specialization in teaching, which gave her the opportunity to teach while at Hoban. Candace doesn't get to school until around 9:30 during the week and teaches during the morning school hours. To help her during game coverage, Candace has three to four student coaches from the high school helping her. They usually get together after school, and if the football team is playing that day, they eat with the football players in the dining hall. Shortly after eating, they gather all the things she needs and head to the field on the other side of the school. motorway.
