The Ecological Footprint Survey is a survey that measures human demand on Earth's ecosystems and the amount of natural capital used each year. When I started this project I didn't really know what I was getting myself into, so I took the ecological footprint survey on footpernetwork.org. When I saw my results I was completely shocked. I was so disappointed in myself. I felt like I was killing this planet. The results I received really scared me because if there were more people out there like me, this planet probably wouldn't exist right now. My results showed that if more people were like me, we would need 4.2 planet Earths to provide enough resources. If I thought my results were bad, imagine those people would probably need 50 planet Earths to sustain themselves. According to my ecological footprint survey, the thing that interests me most is “services”, which represents 46%. This means I use appliances a lot and waste too much gas. To reduce this, you need to unplug items that aren't being used, such as cell phone and laptop chargers. Furthermore, to reduce fuel consumption, carpooling would be a great alternative. The next thing I scored high on was goods and food. The percentage wasn't too high, but it was enough to make an impact. This carbon footprint is what will help motivate me to reduce my energy use at home for this energy reduction project. Seeing the results of this ecological footprint has helped me understand that I am contributing to the deterioration of this planet and I refuse to participate in that way anymore. I will use the results of these footprints to leave a better footprint on this planet. I will go out into the world and share my findings so that people are aware of what we are doing at home. I will create a new footprint. A footprint that will change this planet forever. I am determined to turn off the aquarium light during the day. Open curtains during the day to get natural sunlight. At the beginning of the Climate Change – Home Energy Consumption project, the electricity bill was $194.10 and the amount of KWH used was 1665. When I first saw it, my initial reaction was “wow , I really need to reduce energy consumption.” My first plan of action was to do the FPL Home Survey. This survey was very helpful because it brought to my attention the areas where my family and I used a lot of electricity. Some of these areas have cooling and heating. entertainment, water heat, laundry, ceiling fans and lights These areas were high energy consumption spots because in my house everyone likes the temperature to be 22 degrees, but there is a fan in every room, so there is no need to keep the air conditioning as cool. This was part of my action plan. We turned the air conditioning up to 76 degrees. The entertainment area was difficult to implement because when it is not on the television, it's a radio and when it's not a radio, someone is playing a video game, and when it's not a video game, someone is on the computer I had to tell the family to turn off the television and
