When it comes to teaching, there are many different ways and types of methods that you can use to teach your students. One of the most common ways of teaching is using sports education. This type of teaching style is best used for elementary students. According to Daryl Siedentop, a professor at Ohio State University, he believes that lessons should teach children skills, teamwork and the importance behind each sport or activity. Sports education recreates the meaning behind gymnastics classes. Sports education is a physical activity governed by a series of rules or customs. It usually makes kids want to be competitive with each other and teaches them the importance of a winner and a loser. This type of teaching method helps students learn to play sports and engages them. The sooner you start using this method, the sooner children learn the basic functions and skills behind the activities. As children begin to understand the sport or activity they are being taught, they will want to start doing more activities in and outside of the classroom. Sports are very important in a person's life because it keeps you engaged, physically fit, healthy and shows the importance of competition and teamwork. The main goals of sports education are to help students become knowledgeable about different sports and activities to the point where they can participate in them outside the classroom to stay active. It also teaches execution and strategies and encourages competitiveness. It is important that children are competitive because they will have to be competitive in life and this will teach the importance of winning and losing in the right way. “Sports offer kids a great opportunity to work cooperatively toward a common goal. And by working in a cooperative... middle of paper... younger children can lose interest if they are not good and this can embarrass them. Sports education is carried out and taught by teachers to engage children in physical activity and keep them motivated to learn. The most important thing is to keep the kids willing to come to class and keep them physically fit. In the long term, sports education benefits all children involved and hopefully they will want to continue sports and activities outside the classroom for the rest of their lives.
