The sale of organs on the black market means that the mafia and other selected entities use the organs to obtain money from people who desperately need them. This is something that gives people the perception that organ donation is bad and won't actually benefit anyone, when in reality that isn't true. Organ donation, if done correctly, is never done for profit but simply for the fact that, thanks to that specific organ, people are given a second chance and advances are being made in medicine. If people before the age of eighteen were educated on the topic of organ donation and understood its importance, as a society the availability of organs would increase and the demand would not be so high. The more knowledgeable a person is about a topic, the more likely they are to see the positive side of things. In the article “The Benefits of Organ Donation” Mary Beth Adomaitis states “However, between January 2008 and February 2008, approximately 4,400 transplants were performed with organs from approximately 2,200 donors (Adomaitis 2016). These statistics show that when people are given the right information and the ability to make a change, they are willing to do so. Another solution to the high demand for organs is animal organ donation. Yes, this is something that will take a lot of research and time, but most things that do this usually end up being a real game changer. It's the small solutions that end up solving the bigger ones
