Animals raised on factory farms and farms are managed just like any other business. According to the article Factory Framing, Misery of Animals, the factory farming industry strives to maximize production while minimizing costs, always at the expense of the animals. “The giant corporations that run most factory farms have discovered that they can make more money by squeezing as many animals as possible into small spaces, even if many animals die of disease or infection” (Factory Farming). It's actually really disgusting that we eat food that gets in other people's feces and can attract disease. These animals live a life of abuse, but we sit back and say it's okay because we'll eat them eventually. “Antibiotics are used to make animals grow faster and to keep them alive in unsanitary conditions. Research shows that the widespread use of antibiotics in intensive farming can lead to the formation of antibiotic-resistant bacteria that threaten human health” (Factory Farming). These animals are not treated with due care and we behave as if they were machines. Chickens, for example, become so large and deformed that their legs can no longer support them. They eventually die because they can walk further to get food or water. According to Factory Farming, most of these animals have been genetically manipulated to become larger and produce more eggs and milk than they naturally produce.
