My research site is located in Westford, Massachusetts off of Grassy Pond and the triangle of this pond is between Nutting Road, Plain Road and Depot Street. My site located at Grassy Pond can be found by parking in the area off Plain Road, then continuing along the trail until you see a broken fence on your right. This is the site of my field journal. On my site I am mostly surrounded by trees. On one side there is a trail that will take you in a circle around the Grassy Pond and on the other side is a trail downhill to the Grassy Pond but before you reach the pond you will enter some wetlands. These wetlands are very muddy and are great for finding tracks. In winter when it snows you can't see the wetlands. On my site there are many logs where I find most of my mosses and mushrooms, as well as some small plants. The ground is usually just dirt, but in the fall it is covered with leaves, and in the winter it is covered with snow and ice. Excluding the pond, there isn't much water on my site. The water in the pond is still and not clear and looks like mouse...
