Topic > Early Jazz and Its Impact on Today's Music - 694

Jazz has been a musical style for about a century. It is one of the few types of music that has changed with the times. He created with him many subgenres, such as Funk Rock, Swing, Bebop and many others. Many schools also have a jazz band for students. This is just one way jazz music impacts music today. There are also many other ways that jazz has influenced music today, for example without it African Americans would not have the same rights as whites, because jazz was one of the things that helped the Harlem Renaissance, and the Renaissance of Harlem is what began the path towards civil rights for African Americans. With so many different styles and artists, jazz has survived to this day, since the beginning of the 20th century, and has become a popular musical style. Jazz first began in the early 20th century, during that time, live music was still the main form of entertainment. Historians believe that the birthplace of jazz music is New Orleans, Louisiana. It all started in New Orleans because there was all kinds of music there. The music that was especially important there was Ragtime, from Missouri, and The Blues, from Mississippi (Tyle, np). Shortly before World War I, the Creole band toured across the country as part of a vaudeville troupe. This introduced jazz to many parts of the country. Although the Creole band was one of the first jazz bands to make a record, it wasn't until 1917, when the original Dixieland Jazz band provided the first example of New Orleans-style jazz. Another musician is Louis Armstrong, and he was one of the best jazz musicians of his time. He preferred to improvise, and he had some of the best improvisations there ever were ("History of Jazz," np). T...... half of the newspaper ...... has also reached schools, teaching it to children and introducing them to jazz, so that it can continue. For all these reasons, jazz has survived to this day and is still a well-known type of music. Without jazz, the music industry and the lives of many would be completely different.
