Raised as an only child, Dwayne Micheal Carter Jr or more commonly referred to as Lil Wayne, was born on September 27, 1982 in New Orleans, Louisiana. Carter's mother was only 19 when he was born. He was raised by both his mother and father until his father abandoned them when Dwayne Jr. was only two years old. After being abandoned by her biological father, her mother was forced to care for him alone and survive in the crime-infested community of Holly Grove, New Orleans. Although he divorced his mother and remarried, his father forced the two to live with his mother and came to constantly abuse Lil Wayne's mother. This situation went on for three years until Lil Wayne's mother eventually remarried and moved to another country. part of the city. Growing up he did very well in school. At one point he was actually enrolled in his school's gifted program and received top honors. He approached music at a very young age and wrote his first rap song at the age of eight. Lil Wayne has had the drive to be the best and succeed in his craft since his inception. By the age of nine he was challenging others twice his age and older to rap. He constantly went to parties or neighborhood events to rap and most of the time he was better than any adult he went against. As evidence of this, at the age of nine he began to receive the attention of one of the two co-founders of his future label, Slim Williams. From Slim, he then received the phone number of the other co-founder, Bryan Williams, and what he did with it really caught Bryan's attention. He continuously called the number over and over leaving rap songs on Williams' voicemail until he agreed to meet him in person......middle of paper......he had a short but unique life and managed to push himself to achieve the success he always believed he was capable of. Like every other individual's life, it definitely had its ups and downs, like everyone else. Already in the first half of his life his father abandoned him and continued to beat his mother, began using and dealing drugs, accidentally shot himself and even had a daughter. The second half was less eventful than the first. From his first child he had three more, got into a couple more drug habits, went to prison, got his GED and became worth over $100 million. With the many different aspects of both his personality and behavior, many different theories can be applied to him by various theorists. Works Cited Schultz, D., & Schults, S. (2012).
