Their action to prevent this was to dissolve the rest of Yugoslavia and create Serbia and Montenegro. This was the end of Yugoslavia. Yugoslavia came into existence because of a group of people who wanted their own nation, and it worked while Britain's allies wondered what might come of rule over the Austro-Hungarians. The beginning of Yugoslavia is well known, but why did the country completely collapse? As stated in the thesis, there has always been a sense of nationality and diversity among the nation's republics. The six never reunited into one nation, and if they had, many of Yugoslavia's conflicts would have ceased to occur. Yugoslavia was one of the countries within a group of nations called the Balkans. In the Balkans there were Bulgaria, Greece, Romania, Albania, Hungary and, of course, Yugoslavia. Most of the nations in this center were under the rule of the Ottoman Turkish Empire. The geography of the Balkans was mainly characterized by mountains, rivers and the fact that it was a peninsula. Yugoslavia was located on the western side of the peninsula, along the Adriatic Sea.
