Michael Faraday was an English scientist who lived in the 1800s. Faraday always had an interest in becoming a scientist, but due to his low social class this was almost impossible. His great discovery was that electricity traveling through a wire emits an electrical force. He came up with the idea when the scientist he was working with was placing a compass on both sides of an electrified wire. The compass needle is deflected at a right angle. He later performed his own experiment to prove this was right or wrong. He placed a static magnet under a wire. He then passed electricity through the wire and spun the wire around the magnet, thus proving his theory. Antonie and Marie Lavioseir were French scientists living in the 1700s.
