Making gun control stricter would mean only certain models being legal and a rigorous process for obtaining a license. If America allowed only certain models of guns to be legal, deaths among mass murderers could be significantly reduced. According to motherjones.com, from 2011 to 2013, 31 of 62 mass killings involved guns that contained high-capacity magazines, or magazines that can hold more than 10 bullets. High-capacity magazines should be banned because shooters would have to spend much more time loading a weapon, which could save precious seconds for people to escape. A reform of the process for obtaining a license should also be modified. When people purchase firearms, their activity with the firearm should be carefully monitored. If the Bureau of Firearms closely monitored people with firearms and took precautions such as having people who have firearms licenses check in and report gun use activity, the Bureau could easily see if people are using their weapons correctly or if there may be suspicious activity going on. A study conducted by economist Richard Florida showed that states such as Ohio, Washington, and Nebraska have stricter gun control; in turn, they also have a lower gun death rate (per 100,00) than other states. Many people will continue to argue that even with stricter gun laws, there will still be shootings.
