1. INTRODUCTION1.1 COAL WASHING PLANTThe washing plant is powered by a 100T silo equipped with a vibrating feeder to aid and facilitate the flow of coal onto the conveyor belt 18-31. The container can be filled up to 80T; above it overflows through the chute connected to its side. Below 30 T the container is interlocked so as not to feed the scrubber to prevent the coal and container lining from being subjected to impacts causing damage and generation of excess fines. The maximum feeding speed of the vibratory feeder and belt capacity is 200 t/h. Coal from the 18-31 conveyor is fed onto a feed preparation screen. For dust suppression and effects screening, pressurized water from the effluent chute of the magnetic separator is used. The oversized screen (-75+6mm) is fed into the DMS drum while the underscreen (-6mm), also called fine, goes to the effluent tank. The sewage is pumped into the sludge cyclone to recover water and carbon. The overflow from the cyclone is pumped into the thickener where the solids gravitate to the bottom. The thickener slurry is then pumped to the filter press where a filter cake will be produced. The water recovered from the filter press is recycled to the thickener. The bottom flow of the cyclone is dewatered on a screen and combined with the coal from the pits (+32 mm) in the thermal reserve via the conveyor 18-33. The +6 mm particles together with the medium are fed to the Wemco 200 t/h drum. The average density, which varies from 1.42-1.55 t/m³, can be adjusted according to the quality of the coal fed and produced. Coal with a bulk density of 1.0 t/m³ is assumed to float as the gangue sinks, but due to the near-density material there is a possibility that the gangue will float back (or tailings will be displaced). Inside the basket there is a lift that collects all the sinks and deposits them in the laundry room. It is then directed to an extended wash on a screen. The screen drains the concentrated medium from the sink carbon. The medium is rinsed off the carbon initially with flood water from the magnetic separator and finally with sprays of clean water. The drained medium goes to the corrected medium tank (CM tank) while the rinsed medium goes to the diluted medium tank (DM tank). The washed coal is then crushed using a rotary ring crusher to a maximum size of 32 mm and conveyed to the thermal pile by conveyor belt 18-33 on the conveyor belt18-15.
