I remember enrolling in sociology, without having the slightest idea of ​​what it was. I thought it would be interesting since I was told that you learn interesting things in college. However, other than this general advice, I entered a course without knowing even simple facts like the definition of sociology. I didn't know, I shouldn't have worried. The first morning of class I was sitting in the front row with my notebook and pencil ready. Maggie Hunter walked into the room and it was clear that she was excited to teach and also open to learning from us. His verbal and physical language were the two things that struck me the most because they conveyed the message of commitment and openness. Immediately, because of the energy he brought to the learning space, I was inspired to learn all the sociology the course could give me. Entering a classroom where the student can draw inspiration from the teacher's enthusiasm and knowledge of their subject is an extraordinary and unique experience. This desire to learn and delve into the deepest corners of a subject is a result of both the teacher and the student doing their part. The teacher, however, (just like a parent) sets the tone for the interaction. As students get older, they are expected to play a larger role in their education and are expected to be more adamant about satisfying their desire for knowledge. When children are younger, however, the teacher has a great impact on the child's outlook on learning and, if the student is lucky, will inspire a sense of curiosity in the student. Furthermore, teachers are responsible for imparting knowledge to minds of all ages. These relationships are important for both the teacher and the student as the level of openness and understanding gives way to new knowledge and new ideas. However, in education, being open to the other and recognizing both the teacher and the student that they have the capacity to learn a lot makes the learning process more effective and powerful. Being a student influenced by a teacher is unforgettable. Being a teacher who influences a student is also unforgettable.
