Change in an organization is inevitable and crucial to its growth, success and survival. “Deutsche Telekom has been one of the largest providers of vocational training in Germany for years” (Telekom). The company is committed to improving its image and value by generating opportunities and possibilities through greater diversity at a higher organizational level. Their plans to bring more women into leadership positions include: increasing hiring of female graduates, designating a quota of at least 30% for women in leadership roles, expanding parental leave programs, introducing more flexible working hours for manager and expand the number of places available in company childcare programs. Diversity plays an important role in the workplace. But to achieve positive results, it must be employed effectively and efficiently. When an organization takes advantage of its diverse group, the collaboration of various skills from the employees is used, achieving the goal in a much faster pace. The “quota” approach that Deutsche Telekom is pursuing has both advantages and disadvantages. The company's method is an effort to access as much unique and amazing talent available, developing a better company. According to an interview with professors Anita Woolley and Thomas Malone, their research shows that “there is little correlation between the collective intelligence of a group and the IQ of its individual members. But if a group includes more women, its collective intelligence increases” (Harvard Business review). Furthermore, by imposing a quota, the company could play a role in counteracting the injustice women have faced in the past and avoid potential lawsuits for gender bias… middle of paper… Then and only then, Deutsche Telekom could see positive results and truly become a better company.
