Water scarcity is harmful to human life because when water is mismanaged around the world, those who need it are deprived of nutrients that they really need, causing their death. This ultimately affects the global population. Therefore many experts have proposed different solutions such as the LifeSaver bottle, TrojanUVPhox treatment system and wastewater recycling. The problem of water scarcity has still become increasingly widespread around the world, the United Nations reports that within the next half century up to 7 billion people in 60 countries, which is more than the entire population today, will face scarcity of water (Sawin “Water Scarcity might Overwhelm the Next Generation”). Furthermore, the demand for fresh water has tripled over the last 50 years and continues to increase due to population growth and economic development. 70% of this demand comes from agriculture, which shows the influence of water on global food supply and not just drinking water (Sawin “Water Scarcity might overwhelm the Next Generation”). But increased water consumption isn't just a matter of more people needing it to drink and eat; It also results from pollution and improper use of water resources, through the discharge or runoff of bacteria or chemicals into the water. This “also causes other pollution, such as soil and air pollution, accelerating damage to wetlands, and human-caused global warming” (Smith and Thomassey 25). According to a United Nations report, recent estimates suggest that climate change will account for about 20% of the increase in global water scarcity in the coming decades. One of the main causes of water scarcity is poor water management around the world. Water mismanagement has become a governance crisis that will have a heavy impact… in the middle of paper… bound by bacteria and viruses, not chemicals. To complement this, UV oxidation would be used in more developed countries to destroy chemicals present in water allowing water to be cleaned around the world, ultimately possibly ending the lack of water supply for the world .
