In the beginning, out of nothing, a goddess-woman was created by order of Unkulunkulu, the Eternal Spirit. By His order He also created the sun, the stars and the sea. Her name was Mma. Although she was immortal, she was cursed with the strangest cravings and desires - anger, hunger, jealousy, sadness and love - and with all this she infected all humans and animals. This is why it is also called The Imperfect. After Mma the Imperfect created the firmament, she sat on Thaba-Zimbi, the iron mountain, and awaited further orders from Unkulunkulu. She felt alone and started crying. He cried so hard that the stars shook and some of them fell and his tears became rivers. Finally Unkulunkulu spoke, "Stop your hysterical outburst and continue creating a perfect universe!" "No!" Mma said. “Before I continue I want a partner, because what's the point of creating a universe just for myself?” The earth and everything on it trembled as the Eternal Spirit spoke to Mma from His space beyond the stars. “You, Imperfect, must listen to your master's voice! You cannot question my orders. Only I know the meaning of creating the universe. Your duty is not to doubt, but to do what I say. Get on with your work now!” The mother goddess stood up. She was beautiful with four enormous breasts, each with a glistening emerald green nipple. With his golden eyes he stared into space beyond the stars where he could see the vague light that was Unkulunkulu. In vain he tried to touch it with his hands. Her lips shone silver as she answered him: “Oh, you have spoken, Eternal Spirit, and I have heard you. As your tool and toy I will obey you through thick and thin. The center of the card... Pygmies. They didn't have hair like people today. Their skin was red and their eyes yellow. While Mma was giving birth to this nation, the Tree of Life began to sow. Where it fell, it turned into trees. The trees bore fruit and, where they fell, they transformed into all sorts of creatures. Birds came out of the hole in the tree, among others the sacred birds Kaa-U-La which had two heads. From the roots of the Tree of Life came snakes and all kinds of reptiles and insects. And then there was life on earth... Interesting: according to the rest of this story all people looked the same and spoke the same language. Peace lasted 10,000 years before the evil within these people caused the origin of different races. The baobab tree is still known as "Uhlanga Lwe Zeswe" - Cane of all nations.
