I believe that social studies should be more integrated into the school day. I know I took a social studies class in elementary and middle school. However I don't really remember them or what was taught in them. I don't think schools take it very seriously. I'm not saying teachers don't do it, because I specifically remember some of my teachers being very passionate about it. However, I personally don't feel at all prepared for this subject going into high school. I think that's one of the reasons I was never interested in it. This course only lasted a few weeks, but the information we reviewed made me realize the importance of starting it at an early age. I believe it should be considered one of the “important” subjects to learn throughout all school years. I believe social studies should be integrated into a special education classroom.
