In her essay "Pink Think", Lynn Peril explains and criticizes the roles of "Pink Think" showing that the world has changed and now women have more roles than ever before. With her argument, Lynn Peril describes the woman's bias, how the feminine ideal influences women's lives, as well as arguing that the "Pink Think" or those biases should be changed. From the beginning, Lynn Peril illustrates situations where women have to face a lot of admonishments to become more feminine and good-natured. And these tips aren't just any more regular advice; they become famous and become rulers to value the dignity of women. Then, the author goes on to recount her true experience of “Pink Think” throughout her life and express her strong feelings: “I formed an early aversion to everything pink and feminine” (Peril, 280). He also escapes some girls who feign innocence and pretend to look as if butter wouldn't melt in their mouths. Furthermore, Peril describes some examples of "Pink Think", such as the description of the correct way to wear a bathing suit by former Miss America Jacque Mercer, the supporting conceit in Betsy Martin McKinney's Ladies' Home Journal, or the story surprised in the competition for the title of Miss America 1961, to clarify what “Pink Think” is. as a traditional thought and preconception about women that they must not go beyond the framework of the right manners of women, and must be at home, be a wife and a mother, Pink thinks, just as the feminine ideal is considered the constitution of behavior correct feminine. Lynn Peril also mentions the period of prosperous development of pink thinking between the 1940s and 1960s. In those years, pink thinking was considered the obvious...... middle of paper......y wearing a swimsuit by former Miss America Jacque Mercer or Betsy Martin McKinney's Ladies' Home Journal , etc. Furthermore, to make his essay more enjoyable, Peril did not use a formal or refined voice, but a common language and even included some humor. To illustrate, he described, “a woman who fears mice does not necessarily follow the dictates of pink thinking. On the other hand, a woman who is not afraid of mice but pretends to be because she thinks such helplessness adds to her appearance of femininity is following the party line of pink thinking” (Peril, 282). It would absolutely make me laugh out loud. It was extremely difficult to say no when laughing. Therefore, through the use of amusing anecdotes, the author has earned my attention and agreement. Lynn Peril made a smart choice to make me go with her and oppose the way of thinking about the feminine ideal and pink thinking.
