In a community college, extracurricular activities are limited because the student population is smaller and in a larger college like a university more activities are offered to students to try to make everyone socially active. Staying socially active is a great way to meet new people and create lasting friendships. The American Psychological Association's journal Health Psychology wrote to the Harvard Women's Health Watch in June 2014 that staying mentally and physically active and having strong social connections can improve overall health. (qtd. in American Psychological Association). The more activities you participate in can not only be beneficial for making new friends but also for your health. If you attend a community college and don't have extracurricular activities on campus, how else can you make new friends? Community colleges don't always offer ways to make friends, so it leads an individual to go to great lengths to start the process. Therefore, when attending a university rather than a community college, the chances of meeting new people appear to be higher considering the amount of people an individual would constantly be around.
